Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and individuals, Luna's House is happy to be able to give back to the community by establishing a Pet Food Pantry for folks who are having trouble affording food and litter for their companion animals.

Mission of the Luna’s House Pet Pantry

Our mission is to help people keep the pets they love, and help pets stay in their homes and out of shelters, by providing pet food and supplies on a limited basis during a period of financial difficulty.

How We Help

Luna’s House will provide up to 4 months' of repackaged pet food and supplies to give the client time to get back on their feet. Food and supplies are donated by businesses or individuals, or purchased at wholesale. This means we may not be able to match preferred brands and quantities may be limited.  If a client has a pet with special food needs, they should make a note on their application and we will try to address the need if we can.

Who We Help

  • People of all ages, races, marital status
  • Unemployed, temporarily or permanently
  • Underemployed
  • Alimony-deficient
  • Retired, living on social security or other limited income
  • Physically or mentally disabled
  • Homeless and/or non-traditional home (camp, etc.)
  • Others (e.g., rescues, feral cat caretakers, animal welfare groups who would distribute to their people who have met criteria)

How To Get Help

Clients can come to Luna’s House ACEC to apply for assistance or can access the Application Form below. Your completed form can be dropped by or mailed to our facility. Visit the Contact page for our address and directions. Questions about the program can be emailed to petpantry@lunashouse.org.

The assistance application must be filled out in its entirety, be signed, dated, and legible. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Once Luna’s House has received the completed application, the client will be added to the processing list.

Clients may receive emergency assistance upon receipt of their application and during the processing period. Emergency supplies may be less or different than what a client will receive once they are active program participants. We will make every attempt to process applications as quickly as possible but please remember that we are a volunteer organization and we cannot guarantee when processing will be completed.

Once a client is accepted into the program, supplies can be picked up on a predetermined date at Luna’s House ACEC by the client or a designated third party. Photo ID will be required at the time of pickup.

Rules of the Pet Pantry Program

  • One applicant per household. All applicants must be 18 or older.
  • Must provide photo ID and proof of address with application (photocopy acceptable with mailed applications).
  • A phone number OR valid e-mail address is required on ALL applications. If you don't have a phone number, provide one for someone who sees you regularly. If we can't contact you, you will be dropped from the program.
  • Pets must have been in the applicant’s care for at least six (6) months, and must be spayed or neutered. We will support no more animals than county limits allow, with a five (5) pet maximum. We provide food for animals listed on the original application only. No additional pets may be added after an application is submitted.
  • Animals added after the application is made may be cause for termination from the program. Our mission is to keep pets with their families by providing temporary assistance with food and supplies; clients should not knowingly add pets they are not able to provide for and are encouraged to spay and neuter all pets.
  • All pets must be kept indoors at night, must not be chained, and must be provided with fresh water at all times. Any suspected abuse will be reported to the proper authorities.
  • We reserve the right to perform a home inspection and meet the pet(s). If we find evidence of abuse or deception – lying about pets, selling or trading food, etc. – you will be immediately and permanently removed from the program.
  • The amount of food we give is based on veterinarian recommendations for the pet's breed, age, and healthy weight.
  • The Luna’s House Pet Pantry is meant to ease TEMPORARY financial stress. Participants may receive assistance for four (4) consecutive months. If you no longer need assistance during your eligible period, please let us know so we can help another household.
  • Individuals with permanent, serious disability may be eligible for continued support (after verification of need). Documented service pets in need of assistance may be eligible for continued support (after verification of need and service pet status). All exceptions are on a case-by-case basis and will require medical and financial documentation, and may require veterinary recommendation.
  • We reserve the right to deny any application for any reason.
